Online Courses

There are many free online courses that you can do in the comfort of your own home at your own pace. You will find many by googling them. They offer a wide range of categories to keep you up to speed, increasing your confidence and developing your skills.

Many courses are accredited, so you will gain a qualification upon completion.

These are a great way to show your willingness to learn and that you have an interest in improving your skillset.

Updating your CV

Always include the start and end dates of previous employment on your CV, and include what your job role involved. It’s always good to acknowledge your achievements and positive impacts that you have accomplished. This makes your CV stand out from the rest.

If you have had gaps in your employment explain why, unemployment  with no explanation can be deemed as a negative attribute, when really there could be a perfectly acceptable reason and there certainly are under the current circumstances.

Interview Ready

Interviews can be daunting when you are out of practice, its a good idea to do your homework first.  Research the company that you are being interviewed to work for.

Show an interest in the companies product, compliment it, admire it. This will really make you stand out from the crowd.

Employers will be impressed if you can demonstrate a knowledge for the role involved, showing that you are enthusiastic and keen.

Practice your responses to commonly asked questions, such as “tell me a bit about yourself” and “what are your strengths and weaknesses” Remember to look smart, be on time (early is best even on Zoom calls), stay calm and remember confidence is the key.

Good luck!
