Wilkommen! Oktoberfest is coming to Maidstone and is bringing plenty of beer!!
The annual festival of Oktoberfest is about to begin… can’t make it to Germany?? Not to worry, it’s coming to Maidstone! The popular event will return to Mote Park on the 12th and 13th of October. It is the main event being held in Kent but if you can’t make that one then there’s another one being held in Canary Wharf, London between the 4th and 14th of October.
What is Oktoberfest?
Oktoberfest began in in 1810 to celebrate a royal marriage, the celebrations were deemed so great it was repeated every year! It is the world’s largest beer and folk festival and traditionally takes place in Munich, Bavaria in south Germany. It has expanded throughout Europe, in recent years and is now celebrated in many countries.
The famous festival is not all about beer it also has traditional German food such as Brez’n (pretzels), Bratwurst (sausage) and many more fantastic German cuisine. There is the main Beerhall Tent with music (with an Oompa band), games, entertainment, and singing. Why not embrace the whole event and wear traditional Bavarian clothes, Lederhosen? Or, go one step further and learn a few words in German? Have fun and enjoy!
